Physical therapy
Physical therapy emphasizes the ability to function in the gross motor and mobility skills necessary to optimally participate in school. Physical therapists use various techniques to promote improvement in muscle strength, flexibility, endurance, balance and locomotion so that a student achieves his or her maximum level of skill and independence.
Because movement is part of the learning process therapists work closely with classroom staff to provide each student with an individualized plan of care. Goals are established according to each student’s individual abilities and needs with the aim in promoting independence, fitness, and wellness.
