Occupational therapy
Occupational therapy emphasizes a student’s ability to participate in all areas of education related activities. The occupational therapist designs activities that address neuromuscular, fine motor, oral motor, and visual motor skills as related to school function. These activities encompass visual motor integration, sensory and perceptual integration, cognitive, and psychosocial function.
Occupational therapy goals are established to promote independence across daily living and vocational skills, and play and leisure skills. The occupational therapist works in close conjunction with classroom staff to support a student’s success in school and community environments.
